Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Component Recognition Program for Office Systems Furniture

The UL's Component Recognition Program for Office Systems Furniture was developed to clarify and expedite the FR approval process for customers own materials (COM) fabric on office systems furniture. Fabric suppliers and furniture manufacturers individually work with UL to meet qualifications that allow their specific products to be added to the UL Recognized Components directory. Once a fabric and/or office system is approved and listed as a UL Recognized Component then it can be used in combination with any other approved fabric and/or office systems furniture. This allows more design freedom without significant burn testing fees and extended lead-times due to additional UL testing. Underwriters Laboratories offers an online directory that can be found on the UL website: www/ul.com. Search for approved fabrics using the Office Panel Fabrics category code QAXN2.
